Day 11

 

Day eleven was another travel day and we were trying to hustle because it was going to be another super long drive. I got up and I was pretty tired I think the exhaustion is catching up to me I can’t wait to sleep in my bed. I really didn’t want to pack up all my things, but we got it done. We left the camp like at 7:30 ish and we drove for about an hour maybe less and we went to see some obsidian in the national forest. It was super cool; we climbed up some stairs and the view was so pretty. Some of the bigger chunks of obsidian were so shiny it was really crazy to see how sharp some of them were. After that we hit the road again and we were in the car for like six hours. While driving through Oregon we got to see some more interesting things. Through some parts where there was a lot of long fields it made me feel homesick because it reminded me of South Dakota. Especially since Dr. Schuster was playing country music, I think we need to have a sing off though he was playing pretty much all of my country playlist. Liz and I were also asking him if we could queue up songs and we were going back and forth playing rap and music in Spanish. It was really fun Liz put me on to a new singer and I can’t wait to listen to more of her songs once I go home. We were also telling stories from our childhood, and we asked Dr. Schuster about his worst travel experience, it was pretty crazy. We got to our final campsite, and it was pretty cute and there were some people walking around with really cute dogs. We had some really tasty dinner Monet made us stir fry and dumplings with rice yum. After dinner I had dishes duty, and I tried to be speedy quick. We played card games after, I taught everyone how to play old maid and spoons, it was really fun, and everyone was getting pretty competitive. We played a couple rounds and after that we all went to bed it was a pretty great day even though it was super tiring.

POBR - Wellpinit Fair Grounds - Day 4

  People of The Big River Location: Wellpinit Fair Grounds Day 4 Day four of our two-week trip and today was a travel day. We woke up and we had to pack everything up again to move on to our next site. Luckily, I packed up all my personal things the night before, so I just had to wake up get breakfast and pack my lunch for the day. The night before I stayed up talking with my tent mate Yoleth. We were talking about music and some of the people we were missing since we didn’t really have cell reception at our last campsite to text our loved ones. After getting everything put away and secured to head out, we were told that we would stop at the University to swap out the incubator we had brought to inoculate our water samples we've been collecting from the different sites. POBR - Bird Creek - Day 2

 People of The Big River Location: Bird Creek … Day 2  Today we got up, put together all of the supplies for breakfast and also made lunches. I was on breakfast crew today, so I had to wake up earlier to set everything up. We had cereal, bananas, coffee and tea. I had a little of everything with a peach tea which was really good. We also set everything out for lunch which was sandwich stuff as well as snacks and fruit. after having breakfast and packing ourselves some lunch we cleaned everything up and packed our bags with our science and shower supplies. After collecting our samples and information from the rivers we were going to come into town to upload things, charge up devices and respond to messages since we don't have any service at the campground. We also were going to get the chance to shower which we've been told will be a privilege closer to the end of the two weeks.
